Maury County Celebrated Work Ethic Distinction Students at Annual Career Fair and Awards Event

Columbia, TN – April 28, 2025 – Maury County Public Schools, Maury Alliance, and the Youth Education Foundation (YEF) came together on Monday, April 28, to host the annual Work Ethic Distinction Celebration & Career Fair at First Baptist Church in Columbia. The event recognized students who earned the Work Ethic Distinction and connected them with local employers through a newly added career fair.

The evening began with a career fair at 4:30 p.m., giving students the opportunity to network with employers and learn about career paths in Maury County. A formal celebration and awards ceremony followed at 5:00 p.m.

Jake Langsdon, Vice President of Columbia Machine Works, delivered an inspiring keynote address. Awards were presented by Terri Thornton of Maury County Public Schools, April Bobb, and Michael Parks Lawrence.

Following the ceremony, attendees returned to the career fair where they were eligible to win door prizes provided by local sponsors including Chick-fil-A, BAD Bakery, Ted’s, Tenn Pin, and Maury Alliance. Event décor was provided by Festive & Flair, adding a celebratory touch to the evening.

A classroom was available for on-site interviews, allowing students to explore real-time employment opportunities.

The event served as a celebration of student achievement and a bridge between education and industry, highlighting the value of strong work ethic and career readiness in Maury County’s future workforce.
